Hello my crafty friends and welcome! I hope everyone is doing well today and staying safe. Today I want to share with you a birthday card I made using only die elements for the whole front of the card. I use die cutting quite a lot but never have I used it so that it is the only technique I used for the front of the card. However, I did stamp a sentiment on the inside of the card which you will see below. I took inspiration from Jennifer McGuire for this card about what colors look good together and what can really make a card look fancy and elegant. Let me show you!
The main die, or dies, that I used for this card is from Birch Press Designs. I used the Viola Plate layered background dies. These dies cut beautifully through both plain cardstock as well as specialty cardstock. For layer A and C, I used Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock and then for the middle piece, layer B, I used a piece of Tonic gold mirror cardstock. I didn’t do it this time but next time I think I will put Stick It adhesive on the back of the top layer because the lines are very narrow and adding glue is a tad tedious. Since I hadn’t done that for this card, I used my Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive. For the outside sentiment I used the “Happy Birthday” sentiment dies from CZ Designs. I cut the actual words from a scrap piece of plain black cardstock and the shadow was cut from some gold star vellum I had purchased a while ago from Michael’s Craft Store. To adhere those pieces I used my Ranger Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive. This is probably my favorite liquid adhesive at the moment. It dries clear and matte, as the name would suggest. I kept the inside of the card simple, only stamping a sentiment. I wanted the inside to be cohesive with the outside so I stamped the sentiment in Delicata Golden Glitz pigment ink. The sentiment itself is from the Simon Says Stamp “Sweet Birthday” stamp set. I used my Mini MISTI stamping tool to stamp the sentiment on the inside because I find with the Delicata pigment inks you need to stamp something a few times to really make it look opaque and bold. I did consider adding pearls or gems to the front of the card but decided against it. I figured it would be nice to do a simpler, but elegant, card.
There you have it, my friends! Have you tried any background dies, layered or debossing or anything? I would love to know some of your favorites! I’m always on the hunt to try new things and I love to hear your recommendations. Thank you so much for stopping by today, your support means so much to me. I really hope you enjoyed today’s card and maybe found some inspiration too! Below I will link my Instagram, where I post everything I make and some life updates that don’t make it here, Facebook page, and my YouTube channel. There are only a few videos because I haven’t been able to get back to filming but I will hopefully be back at that soon! I thank you so much again and I hope to see you soon but, until then, keep creating! XO Emma
