Hello my crafty friends and welcome! I’ve been doing a lot of sympathy cards recently but this is the first pet sympathy card I’ve had to do in a while. I always make sympathy cards in the hope that the recipient will find a small bit of comfort knowing that I am thinking about them and that I’m there to lend an ear when they’re ready. I used two new dies for this card and a stamp set I’ve had for quite a while. I worked off of the whole idea that pets cross the “rainbow bridge” when their time comes. Let me show you.
I made this card into a landscape, top folding, A2 size card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Rainbow Heart die as the main focus of the card. The purple that’s surrounding the heart is actually the cardstock that I cut the purple rainbow strip from. I decided at the last minute that I wanted to do a sort of inlay technique with the heart and this piece worked out perfectly with no planning! The top and bottom of the heart is white glitter paper from Simon Says Stamp and the rainbow itself is just scraps. The silver heart with the paw print in it is the My Favorite Things Paw Prints Die-Namic. I used the My Favorite Things “Itsy Bitsy Polka Dots” background stamp on the purple piece surrounding the heart to add a bit of texture. I stamped it with the Rina K Electro Pop ink in Potent Purple. I had just received this ink from Simon Says Stamp and really wanted to try it out. It turned out to be the perfect tone when put against this Bazzil cardstock. For the outside sentiment I used the Simon Says Stamp ‘With Sympathy’ dies. I cut the words from a piece of Tonic Mirror Cardstock in ‘Glossy Black’ and the shadow is cut from a piece of vellum I had that had silver stripes on it. For the sentiment I used my Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue and for everything else I used the Simon Says Stamp Tacky Glue. Especially with the purple outline the liquid glue gave me a bit of play time to make sure it was lined up just right.
