Hello my crafty friends! For today’s post I’m sharing a card I made using the new Simon Says Stamp Summer Time BBQ stamp set. I had a lot of fun making this card, I’ve never done a card like this before. Let’s jump into the cardmaking!
I took all of the individual pieces from the little Simon Says Stamp Summer Time BBQ stamp set and started stamping them around an A2 Bristol card front in a bit of a haphazard way. I wanted to color and blend when I colored the images, so I stamped the images in Gina K Amalgam Ink. I find that this works really well when I want to use my blender pencil, it doesn’t smear if I go over the lines by mistake.
I then took my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils and colored the images. I loved how the shading of the grill turned out. The food took a bit of some research because I have never really colored burgers or hot dogs or anything. I referred to the inspiration sheet that came with the kit on what kind of colors to use for the food.
For the sentiment I stamped the smaller words in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then stamped the ‘BBQ’ sentiment with Versamark and then I used the WOW embossing powder in ‘Sunburst’. I then trimmed it down and put foam tape on the back of the sentiment. I then took a piece of red cardstock and cut it to a size slightly larger than the white piece of paper.
Then, on the back of the red piece of paper and the card front, I put 1/4″ Scor Tape on the back. I then attached it to the card base I had pulled. I then took the Doodlebug Shape Sprinkles in Picnic Parade and sprinkled the ants around the card as well as a few of the hearts.
For the inside sentiment, I used a stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Hello Sunshine stamp set. I stamped the sentiment using a Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then took two of the little ants and put them in the lower left corner with a little heart over their heads.
Here is the final card. I really love how this card turned out. I’m excited to make another one, actually. I was proud with how the food turned out especially. Have you gotten the kit? What have you made? I’d love to know!
