Just Us Girls Photo Week Challenge

Hello there my crafty friends! I’m slowly getting into a new routine and I felt like it was time for me to start posting again (new schedule will be down below). It’s Tuesday and I want to keep that as the day I do the Just Us Girls challenge. This week over on the Just Us Girls Challenge blog it’s Photo Week! I had a lot of fun with this challenge because of the, what looks to be, a carnival scene. Let’s jump right in so I can show you what I made!

For my image and sentiment, I decided to use the Hero Arts ‘Ornate Carousel’ stamp set. I’ve had this for a while but haven’t used it much. I used my MISTI to stamp the image since it is so detailed and I was afraid I would need to stamp it more than once. I stamped the image twice using my Gina K Amalgam Ink. The image comes in three separate pieces but lining them up as you stamp them down is quite easy. I always stamp the carousel animal first then the base then the umbrella top and finally the topper flag (or heart).

Once everything was all stamped, I colored the entire image using my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. I mainly used golds and pinks with a bit of grey and brown. There are these little bead things on the umbrella part so I took my Sakura Gelly Roll stardust pen and added that to the dots instead of coloring them in. Then I took my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen in Glitter Gloss and used it on the entire rest of the carousel except for the physical horse.

Next I did the sentiments. On the outside I stamped the words “Have a” and “birthday” with my Versafine Onyx Black Ink and then put Ranger Holographic embossing powder on it and heat set it. I then stamped th word “Magical” with my Versamark ink and sprinkled Ranger Fine Detail gold embossing powder over it and heat set that with my Wagner heat tool. On the inside I took a sentiment from my Simon Says Stamp ‘Birthday Messages’ stamp set and stamped it using my Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo dye ink. I like how this tied the front and the inside together.

To attach my card front to my card I used my favorite 1/4″ Scor Tape. I then felt that the card needed a little bling so I pulled out my Studio Katia Majestic Fusion sequins and I started adding them to the card. I used my Ranger Multi Medium Matte to glue them down.

Here is the finished card, I hope you like it. I can’t wait to get to mail it off to someone. I feel that way about all of my cards though. What do you think? What kind of card would you make for this challenge? I’d love to know!

Thank you so much for stopping and for your support during my hiatus. It really does me a lot to me. I will be posting every Tuesday and Thursday, the set time is yet to be determined.
