Card Spotlight: Perfect Pearls

Hello, my crafty friends, and welcome! Today’s card uses something I haven’t used in an age- Ranger Perfect Pearls! I am so excited to share this card with you. It didn’t take too long to do and it’s quite easy to achieve the look I got. Grab your stamps, inks, and Perfect Pearls and follow along!

I started by creating an ink blended background. I like how purple and gold look together so I decided to go with that combination. I used my Distress Oxide inks in the shades: Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord, and Shaded Lilac. I used my mini ink blending tool to blend the three colors together on a piece of A2 sized Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I then pulled out my Delicata Golden Glitz pigment ink and my Perfect Pearls in Perfect Gold. I then got to work preparing the paper for the stamped image.

I used the main image from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Stronger Together’ stamp set and lined it up on my piece of Bristol and then closed the lid of my MISTI to pick the stamp up. Then, before stamping, I took my heat tool and set the ink so that it wouldn’t have any traces of moisture before I stamped. Once I picked the stamp up, I also ran my Anti Static embossing bag over the entire surface of the card front to make absolutely sure the Perfect Pearls would stick to only where I stamped. I then inked up my stamp with the Delicata Golden Glitz ink and stamped it down. I only stamped it once because I got a really nice impression on the first go.

I then took my piece out of the MISTI and set to work with my Perfect Pearls. I used the larger brush that came with the set to dab on the powder all over the image. I then tapped it off but it still left some powder behind where I didn’t want it. To remedy that, I took one of my Swiffer Sweeper Cloths and ran it over the card panel and that picked up the rest of the powder that was stuck around the stamp. I then lightly misted the panel to sort of ‘set’ the Perfect Pearls. Since this is Distress Oxide ink, it did react with the water but it was very fine so I was okay with it.

I took my Anti Static powder tool and ran it across the bottom of the card front to prepare that area for heat embossing. I took a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Beautiful Butterflies’ stamp set and stamped it right below the flower with my Versamark embossing ink. Next, I took my Ranger Fine Detail embossing powder and sprinkled it over the sentiment. I then heat set it with my heat tool.

For the inside of the card, I used a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp “Stronger Together” stamp set. I stamped the sentiment with my favorite Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink. I find that it gives the best impression without having to go back and stamp it a second time.

I took my 1/4″ Scor Tape and placed it around the perimeter of my card front on the back. I then attached it to a side folding, A2 card base. Looking at it, I felt that it needed something so I went rummaging through my embellishments. I decided on my Studio Katia ‘Arctic Breeze’ pearls. I attached them to the card using my much loved Ranger Multi Medium Matte. I really liked the stark contrast between the purple background and the bright white of the pearls.

This is the final card, what do you think? I was really pleased with how it turned out since I started this card with no clue as to how I wanted it to look at the very end.
