Just Us Girls Word Week Challenge: Sunshine

Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back to my blog! It’s Tuesday which means it’s time to share my entry into the Just Us Girls Card Challenge of the week. This week is word week and the word is ‘Sunshine’! It took some time for me to come up with a design but as you’ll see, I thought simpler was better. This will be a quick one, I hope you will like it!

The first thing I did was to pick out my stamp sets for sentiments. I chose the cover gift from one of my more recent Cardmaking and Papercraft magazines, a sentiment from the Clearly Besotted ‘So Much To Say’ stamp set, and a sentiment for the inside from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Beautiful Butterflies’ stamp set. The beach cover gift had the perfect sentiment for the front, and as you’ll see, the perfect size for placement.

Next, I got out a top folding A2 size card, and taped my MFT Radiating Rays stencil to it using blue painters tape. I put an extra piece of tape covering the bottom open part of the card so I wouldn’t get glitter gel or ink where I didn’t want it. I first laid down a bit of Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide Ink radiating from the center. Once I dragged that out a bit, I took Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink and finished all of the rays and blended it with the orange. I then took a paper towel and wiped the stencil down without removing it. I did this so what I used next wouldn’t pick up as much of the ink. Next I took my Gina K. Designs Glitz Glitter Gel in Iridescent and put that over top my inked areas to add some sparkle to my design.

Next I took the ‘Sending Sunshine’ sentiment and placed it right in the center of the ‘sun’. Next, I stamped “To my best friend” in the open bottom area. For both of these I used my Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink.

I wanted to keep the inside simple, so I took a ‘Thinking of you’ sentiment and stamped it using Gina K. Premium Dye Ink in a yellow shade that way it would connect to the front.

Here is the final card, I wanted to keep things simple so I refrained from using any gems, or jewels, or pearls. What do you think? Did you make a card for the challenge? I’d love to know!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, it truly means the world to me. If you want to be notified every time I post, don’t forget to follow this blog before you leave!
