Just Us Girls Color Challenge Week

Hello my crafty friends! Welcome back. It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time for the Just Us Girls Color Week Challenge. This week’s colors are green, orange, yellow, and pink as you can see above. It took a bit to come up with an idea for my card but once I got the spark, I ran with it. Let me show you what I created!

After much deliberation, I went with using my Honey Bee stamps ‘Shine On’ stamp set. I stamped the nail polish bottle four times onto a piece of Strathmore Smooth Bristol* using Versafine Onyx Black ink*. I then took my WOW Clear Embossing Powder (Regular)*. Before I stamped my nail polish bottles, I was sure to use my Inkadinkadoo Embossing Bag*.

Next, I took my Arteza Real Brush Pens* and started painting my nail polish bottles. The colors I used are: Hot Pink (A196), Green (A179), Orange (A112), Bumblebee Yellow (A128), and Noir in (A104). I would outline the nail polish bottle with one color and then took my water brush and blended the color out. I laid down the black color without any blending with the water brush. The Arteza Real Brush Pens are some of my favorite ways to color images and they’re are a less messy way to do watercoloring. Be sure to check them out.

Next, I turned my focus onto the sentiment I was going to have in the center area I had created with the nail polish bottles. I took the ‘Birthday Wishes’ stamp from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Birthday Messages’ stamp set. I again wiped the area down with my embossing bag. I then stamped the sentiment with my Versamark embossing ink*. I decided to use all of the colors from the challenge to make the sentiment. I used Ranger Green, Yellow, Orange, and Hero Arts Pink Glitter Embossing Powder. I used a tiny spoon to carefully pour the embossing powder in stripes across the sentiment. I then took my Wagner Heat Gun* and heat set the embossing powder.

I then took my favorite dry adhesive and applied it to the back of the nail polish panel. I’m talking about 1/2″ Scor Tape*. Once the tape was applied, I peeled off the backing and lined it up with my card base.

I felt that the card needed some embellishments and I chose my Studio Katia Majestic Fusion Sequins. I used my Crystal Kubaton (check it out here) to pick up the sequins and put them back down again. I used my favorite liquid glue for embellishments- Ranger Multi Medium Matte. Especially with really tiny ones, they can break off so easily.

Okay, okay, you know me- I couldn’t stop there I had to add some more sparkle and so I did. I love using Glossy Accents* on the nail polish bottle to make it look like a real bottle. I should have stopped there…. but I didn’t. I then took Queen and Co. white iridescent glitter and sprinkled it on top of the glossy accents to add more sparkle.

Here is the final product, what do you think? I love using this stamp set for birthday, thinking of you, thank you, encouragement… It’s very versatile. Have you tried it? Definitely check it out.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post, it was a lot of fun to put together. If you want to get notified of when I post, feel free to subscribe to this blog.
