Hello my crafty friends and thanks for stopping by! This week, my card for the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge is being shared on a Thursday instead of Tuesday. The word for this week is ‘Hero’ which I find completely appropriate for everything that’s going on. I may have gone with the obvious option but I really like how this card turned out. Be sure to check out the challenge blog and play along!

For the image, I used a free digi stamp that I got from Polkadoodles. The stamp is called the Winnie Heroes digital stamp set , it is currently available on the Polkadoodles site for free! You get three different images along with a bunch of sentiments. I printed my images onto 110lb Neenah Solar White* paper. I then colored my images with my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils* I used Gamsol blending solution* to blend out the colors. I love using my Gamsol because it really helps with the shading of colors.
Once the image was colored, I trimmed it down using my Fiskars Wire Trimmer*. I also trimmed the sentiment down with the wire trimmer. I then cut down a piece of purple cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″, that way I would have a white border on the card.
I then took my 1/2″ Scor Tape and placed it on the back of the purple paper and my nurse image. I then took foam tape and placed it onto the back of the sentiment strip. After everything had it’s tape on the back, I applied them to my card base which is also made from the the Neenah Solar White cardstock.
Once everything was attached, I decided to add some bling! I used the Studio Katia Silver Foil Fusion sequins. I attached them using my favorite glue, Ranger Multi Medium Matte*. I love this glue because it’s very strong but you don’t need very much to get embellishments to stick properly.
Here’s the final product! I really enjoyed this week’s challenge, being someone who spends a lot of time with nurses/doctors/etc. I know that they are truly superheros for everything they do. I’m glad I’ve found a way that I can thank them. Who is your superhero?
