Hello my crafty friends and I’m so glad to be back! The posts of the last two weeks had been scheduled because I had to go to Wisconsin and didn’t take my laptop with me. I had my tablet but really didn’t feel like trying to type and edit posts on it, so I scheduled two weeks out. Anyway, I’m back now and I have a quick little post for today. I finally received my Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this kit since I saw the release photos and, except for receiving different inks, I’m thrilled with the kit! Let me show you what came in it!
First up, the stamp set. Usually the card kit stamp sets are 6×8″ but this time it was a 4×6″ set and I absolutely love it! I can definitely see paper piecing being a great way to do this stamp set. I’m really excited and can’t wait to play with it! This is the “Follow the Rainbows” stamp set from Simon, by the way.
Next are the papers. We got two sheets of the Simon 120lb white cardstock along with a sheet of 100lb paper in Island Blue, Doll Pink, and Royal Purple. I really love Simon’s cardstock, it’s high quality and very durable. Their colors are bright and they are heavy enough to be card bases as well as fronts or accents.
In the kit we also got four watercolor images on, I believe, Distress Watercolor paper (don’t quote me on that). Then we got two envelopes, one in white and the other in Island Blue. I think the watercolor images are really cute and I may even use them on a card that I’m planning to send one of my friends.
Also in the kit we got the Simon Says Stamp Fine Detail White embossing powder and ink. I didn’t receive the ink that they had said we would receive so Iv’e emailed them about it but I received four mini ink cubes of Gina K’s Premium Dye Ink in Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. They’re pretty colors but I was really looking forward to the set that had been advertised. I’m so excited to using these inks, too, though.
We also got the ‘Clouds for Days’ cloud stencil from Simon Says Stamp. I’ve been eyeing this piece for awhile but had never picked it up. Now I’m glad I hadn’t! I like that you have the cloud edges but also full size clouds as well. I like how unique this one is compared to other one’s I’ve seen. I think the full size clouds would be fun to do with Versamark and the embossing powder we got in the kit.
Next to the stamp set, the double sided paper we got in the kit is my absolute favorite!! They are all rainbow colors and they are very vibrant! They are on the glossier side which isn’t my favorite but the colors override that feeling! These will be fun to paper piece with. I’ve never done paper piecing but this card kit is just screaming for it! I’m so freaking excited to try it!!
There you have it, the April card kit from Simon Says Stamp. It’s out of stock but you can get the other pieces individually if you see anything you really like! Did you like this post?
