‘Miss You’ Card Spotlight

Hello my crafty friends and thanks for stopping by today! Today I’ve decided to share a card I made that I’m planning to send to a friend on the other side of the country. It’s the perfect type of card for the current climate. I already don’t get to see her but this whole Covid19 thing makes it even worse. I took stamps from the March Simon Says Stamp card kit which wound up being perfect for when we’re quarantined. Keep reading to see what I created!

I took the bigger block sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Stronger Together’ stamp set and stamped it in the middle of the card with Versafine Onyx Black ink*. I used my MISTI * so that I could stamp it multiple times to get a nice dark impression. I then took all of the individual flower and leaf images and stamped them around the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black again.

Once I had all of the leaves and flowers stamped to my satisfaction, I got to coloring. I used Darice Studio 71 Watercolor Pencils that came in the same kit as the stamps and I used a waterbrush to pull and blend the color out. I used to not really like watercolor pencils but it must have been the brand I had bought because I really like these. When you pull the color out it turns into a more pastel color but you can layer it up to be more vibrant too.

As per usual, I had to add some sparkly bits. I used my Little Things from Lucy’s Cards Clear Iridescent Jewel Mix. These are some of my most used gems in my crafting, they go with everything! There are three different sizes but I also have the chunky in a separate bag so I guess I actually have four sizes. I glued each gem down using my Ranger Multi Medium Matte* liquid glue. I personally think it’s the best glue for gems, pearls, sequins, etc. To apply my jewels, I used my Crystal Kubaton. I actually purchased it at IMATS of all places and it’s easily become my favorite jewel picker-upper. I like that when it gets dull you can sharpen it with a manual pencil sharpener.

Here we have the final card! I am really in love with this card, it reminds me of spring. At first, I wasn’t going to add the gems to the card but once I stepped back and looked at it I decided it needed some bling. I had a lot of fun creating this card, it was very relaxing to do. What are your thoughts on this card? I’d love to know, so be sure to leave them down below in the comments.
