Hello there my crafty friends, I hope you all are doing well! It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for my entry into this week’s Just Us Girls card challenge. It is trend week and the trend, as you can see, it’s a square concept. I tried not to go with the obvious but with squares it’s a little hard not to repeat something from somewhere by accident. Let’s jump into the cardmaking!

I made my card base out of Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock*. I also made one from Neenah Desert Storm but I wound up not using that base today. I cut it at 5 1/2″ x 11″ and then scored it at 5 1/2″ and folded it over. I then took a piece of lavender paper and cut four squares at 1 1/2″x 1 1/2″. I then cut four more from an Authentique paper from the Authentique Classic Collection: Pretty. I cut these pieces at 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ so there would be a purple border around the beautiful argyle paper. I really love Authentique paper, their patterns are gorgeous. I will gladly use 6×6 or 12×12 paper, I love the patterns that much.
Because I wanted to make sure my squares were centered, I took my T-Ruler* and created the center of my card. I measured and marked 2 3/4″ with my T-Ruler and then used said ruler to drawn the lines. I then took the purple squares and lined them up with a bit of a gap so they’re not touching. I then held each one down and traced the square partially so I could line it up how I wanted it.
To attach both sets of squares to my card, I used 1/4″ and 1/8″ Scor Tape*. I swear by this tape when it comes to cardmaking. It is strong and yet easy to use. You can cut it with scissors or you can just tear it. I prefer to cut it because it gives me a clean line. Anyway, I love this tape and I used it for everything on this card.
For the heart die, I used Nellie’s Choice Multi Frame Dies in the heart shape*. I got these dies when I first started die cutting and they have held up wonderfully. The price point is great too. I took a piece of Tim Holtz red metallic jewels kraft cardstock and cut a heart from it. I love his metallic cardstock. It’s backed by kraft paper which is something I had never encountered until I received the paper in a card kit. I have cut up so many pieces to use for die cuts but I’ve saved every little piece because I’m sure I will be able to use it for something down the road. Or maybe I just like paper, haha. I then decided to pop up my heart and I used a big roll of foam tape. I decided to try a brand I had never heard before when I needed more foam tape and I bought the Bertech Double Sided White Foam Tape*. I purchased the half inch size because that’s what I’d worked with before. I’m glad I bought this tape, it’s 36 yards long so it is going to last me a good long while.
After much deliberation I decided to make this a Thank You card. I decided to use the MFT ‘Grateful for You’ stamp set for the sentiment on the front of the card. I decided it would look nice if I heat embossed it. I inked the stamp up with VersaMark* embossing ink. Before I stamped down the sentiment, I made sure to use my Inkadinkadoo embossing bag*. If you’re ever going to heat emboss, I highly recommend using an anti-static bag. I then stamped the sentiment down and then sprinkled my embossing powder over it. I used Nuvo Embossing powder in Soft Lilac. I then heated the embossing powder with my Wagner Heat Gun and melted it nice and glossy smooth.
Here is the final product. On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp ‘Lots of Thanks’ stamp set. Once I had that stamped, I felt that the card was complete. For a rare time, I didn’t add any sequins or jewels. What do you think of this card. It’s on the simpler size for me but I’m happy with it. I can’t wait to get to send it to someone! Long live snail mail, especially in this day and time.
