Hero Arts Birthday Card

Hello my crafty friends and thank you for coming to my little crafty corner of the internet. Today I want to share with you a card I made using one of the Hero Arts ‘My Monthly Hero’ kits from recent months. There’s nothing very complex about this card, it’s pretty simple. I forced myself to stay away from gems, sequins, pearls and the like so that it would stay simple but beautiful. Shall we get started?

I made my card base out of Neenah Desert Storm 100# paper. I took the largest stamp from the Hero Arts ‘My Monthly Hero’ February kit. I stamped the image with my Versafine Onyx Black ink since I wasn’t going to use Gamsol.

I colored all of the images on the card with my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. I tried to use a combination of warm and cool tones to give it interest.

I then took one of the sentiment stamps from the set and heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Detail ‘Gold’ embossing powder. I like how this embossing powder looks against the kraft paper background. It doesn’t blend in but it’s not a stark contrast either.

This is the final product, what do you think? I had been inspired by my ‘Clean and Simple 2’ Online Card Class to try a one layer card. I think it turned out pretty nice. I’ve been trying a lot of new things with my cards just to mix things up. Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed today’s post.
