Just Us Girls Picture Challenge

Hello my crafty friends and thanks for stopping by! I know I usually share my challenge card on Tuesday but I wanted to share the anniversary card first and make this a bonus post! This week over at the Just Us Girls Card Challenge blog it is Picture Week and the above photo is the inspiration. As you’ll see from the colors I chose for the cards, I took my inspiration from the colors and the flowers themselves. Let me show you what I did to create my cards.

I decided to use one of my Rubbernecker Watercolor stamps for the card. I used stamp #919 ‘Bouquet’. I thought this would be the best way to get both colors onto the card. I really like these stamps, they’re some of my favorites. I used my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to do the painting part of this card.

After heat setting my watercolor images, I took to the outline. I stamped the outline with my Versafine Onyx Black ink, which is a pigment ink. I then sprinkled embossing powder on top and heat set that. The card on the left in the second photo is heat embossed with Ranger Holographic embossing powder and the card on the right is WOW! Super Fine Clear embossing powder. I think the black works nicely with the colors in the flowers.

I then took my Sizzix Happy Birthday stamp set and my Simon Says Stamp smaller birthday sentiments and chose which ones I wanted to use on the cards. I heat embossed one card using Ranger Gold embossing powder and the other with Michael’s Glitter Gold embossing powder. I think that gold would meld well with the red and yellow of the flowers and the tiny bit of green with a few of the leaves.

These are the final products! If I had to choose a favorite, I think the card on the right is it. I love how they both came out and they’re very very similar. These stamps are too much fun to play with, you really should give it a go. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking my blog out.
