My Mom's Birthday Card

Hello, my crafty friends, and thanks for stopping by! Today I am going to share with you the card I’ve made for my mom’s birthday… okay her birthday is in July but I like having a head start, lol. I’m trying to make cards for everyone in my family and friends and right now I’m up to July and August. Let’s get into it!

For this card I used the Magnificent Magnolias from Simon Says Stamp. Unfortunately I bought it during Stamptember two years ago so it is no longer available. This is probably one of my favorite stamp sets, I use it so much I’m running out of what to do with them (sorta, not really, haha). I wanted to give no line watercoloring a try so I stamped the image of the larger flower with MFT hybrid ink in ‘Natural’. This gave faint enough lines that no one would be able to see it through the painting but just dark enough so that I could see what I was doing. I also used a sentiment from the panda birthday stamp set from Simon Says Stamp for the front and the inside of the card.

For the no line watercoloring, I used my Arteza Real Brush Pens- 96 count. I LOVE these watercolors. You can get really detailed or just do a wash with them. They are very versatile. You can find them either on the Arteza website or on Amazon, which is where I got mine. I used a waterbrush to pull out the color so that I could fill the image in.

For it being my first time trying to do no line watercoloring I think the flower turned out really nice. There are lines, but I drew them there with the watercolors. The ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment is heat embossed with Gold embossing powder from Ranger. Usually I fill the letters in, but I liked the simplicity of just the gold and then having it go over the leaves added a little something extra, I believe. The inside of the card is very simple, I want to keep everything pretty clean and simple for this card.

That’s the card for today! What did you think of it? What have you been creating since the quarantine began? I’d love to know! Thank you so much for stopping by, it really means a lot.
