Hello my crafty friends, and welcome back! This week, I was so inspired by the Just Us Girls Card Challenge that I decided to make two cards. You can check out my first one here. I took my card in a completely different direction as before, it’s a sympathy card. I think that cards like that can really help someone heal after a great loss. Let me show you what I used!
For the image, I used the larger floral stamp in the Simon Says Stamp ‘Stronger Together’ stamp set that came in my card kit (but you can also just purchase the stamp set on it’s own here). I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink and then I used my WOW! Clear Super Fine embossing powder to heat emboss the image. That way, when I go to color it, it’s easier to stay inside the lines.
I then watercolored the image with my Mijello Mission Gold watercolors. I stuck to pinks and reds for the flowers and mixed a few of the greens (and a blue) together for the leaves. I actually had to do all of this twice because the first time I wound up ruining the picture by mistake. I was so mad at myself. I then took the Avery Elle ‘With Sympathy’ stamp set for the “With Sympathy” sentiment. I stamped it with Versamark and then heat embossed with Ranger Gold embossing powder. I think the gold worked really well with the floral tones.
The sentiments on the inside of the card are also from that same Avery Elle stamp set. I used ‘Our thoughts are with you’ and ‘We are here for you always’. For who this card is going to, those sentiments fit perfectly. Then as a final touch, on the outside of the card I took the Majestic Fusion sequins from Studio Katia and placed some on the front of the card. I went with the rule of threes instead of odds on this one. Below is the final product:
There you have it, the finished card. Sadly I have to send this one out (sad because of the loss of our friend) but hopefully it will bring some comfort to her family. I can’t imagine what my life would have been like without her in it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you did, I would love for you to consider following and subscribing here and on Instagram (@ cardstockqueen). Thank you so much for stopping by! I post here every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11AM PST. Until then, keep creating!
