This week for the Just Us Girls challenge is a wild card, which is Inlay Die Cuts this week. I haven’t done a lot of inlay die cutting but I figured this was a great way to give it a true try. Once I got going with this card, I found it really fun and easy to do. Let me show you what I did.
The two dies that I used are ones I got from the Simon Says Stamp site. The ‘Thanks’ die is from the Simon brand but I can’t remember who made the, what I call, fractal heart. I was flipping through my dies looking for something that would be good for inlaying and I stumbled across the fractal heart! It was perfect!
First I cut my piece of black paper using an Art Impressions stitched die. Then I lined up my heart and word die, taped them down, and sent them through my die cut machine. I then cut the heart our of mirror iridescent card along with the ‘Thanks’ die. I also cut the heart out of blue, purple, and deep purple cardstock. I then glued the black paper to the card base I was using. I then glued the heart outline into the heart area and started adding the fractal pieces into it. This took me about ten minutes to complete and by the time I was done, I was really happy with the final product. Here it is:
This is the final product! It’s simple but I feel really proud of it since I’ve maybe done two other die cut inlay projects before this. It definitely wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Do you like to do die cut inlay projects? I would love to see what you have done! If you liked today’s post, please consider following/subscribing here and on Instagram (@ cardstockqueen). I post every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11AM PST. I hope to see you again, thanks for stopping by! Until next time, keep creating! XO
