Card Spotlight: St. Patty’s Day

Hello my crafty friends! Today I wanted to share with you a card I made for the next upcoming holiday- St. Patrick’s Day! A lot of green was… not used! Hah, tricked you didn’t I? Either way, I hope you enjoy today’s post and will be inspired to make your own cards!

I wanted to make a card with an outside background. I took the girl sliding down the rainbow from Craftin’ Desert Divas ‘Pot of Gold’ stamp set and stamped the girl onto a piece of Bristol Smooth as well as on a piece of masking paper. I then cut the image out of the masking paper and laid it over the stamped image on the card. I stamped with black on this card I used Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then made my own stencil for the hill by covering the piece of Bristol with a piece of printer paper and traced out where I wanted to cut out the hill. Once I had that drawn out, I cut it out. Then, using Lucky Clover Distress Oxide ink I created my little hill. I then took the piece I cut out and layered it over the hill and used the MFT Cloud Stencil and Broken China Distress Oxide Ink and created the sky.

I then got to coloring my image. For the rainbow and the clover headband I used my Color It glitter gel pens. The rest of the image I colored with my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. I even used the gel pens to make sparkly blades of grass so that the hill wouldn’t be so flat.

After coloring my image in, I started on the sentiment. I rubbed my paper down with my Anti-Static powder bag and then stamped one of the sentiments onto the front of the card in Versamark. I used my Ranger Ultra Fine Detail Gold embossing powder on the sentiment. I heated it up with my Wagner Heat Tool and viola! A nice smooth gold sentiment.

Here we have the final product! Inside I used the other sentiment along with some of the smaller images in the stamp set. This is one of my simpler cards- no gemstones or sequins or any bling! Have you made any cards for St. Patrick’s Day yet? Or do you plan to? I hope you enjoyed today’s post and if you did, please feel free to subscribe and follow here and on Instagram (@ cardstockqueen) and you won’t miss another card or post! I post every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11AM. Until then, keep creating! XOXO
