Hello there my crafty friends and welcome back, or if you’re new, welcome! Today I wanted to share with you two cards that I created after being inspired by this week’s Just Us Girls card challenge. I really enjoy the JUGs challenges because while they push me to try new things, I still enjoy doing them and don’t feel super stressed while creating my card(s). If you’re a cardmaker I highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking to try card challenges. Let’s see the cards!!
I decided to make get well cards because one of them is going to my best friend since she’s having surgery. For this card I used Simon Says Stamp Cream cardstock for the base, just plain old black paper, gold mirror card, and black glitter paper. I cut the gold and black papers to one inch by four and a quarter inches and then laid them down. I put the black down first on the top and bottom and then laid the gold mirror paper on top, leaving half an inch of black showing top and bottom. I then die cut my sentiment out of black glitter cardstock. I’d recommend the Simon Says Stamp glitter cardstock because the glitter doesn’t come off in your hands while handling it. I wanted to add a bit of glam to the card so I took strips of pearls I had bought a while back from Hobby Lobby and laid them down vertically in between the gold mirror paper and then horizontally across the black cardstock on the top and bottom.
The second card I made was a bit simpler. I used the Tim Holtz ‘Botanical’ 3D embossing folder to emboss the design you see above into the gold mirror card. I then cut a piece of black paper at about an inch and a half by four and a quarter. I then die cut the sentiment from white shimmer cardstock. I laid them out so that the words ‘get well’ would be hanging over the top of the black cardstock. I used my Multi Medium Matte to adhere the sentiments on both of the cards. I didn’t add any embellishments to this card because I felt that the embossed background really spoke for itself.
There you go! These are the two cards I’m going to enter into the JUGs colour week challenge. Will you be entering? I’d love to see your projects, be sure to share them down below!
