Hello my crafty friends and welcome back to another week of crafting fun! For this week’s Step by Step I wanted to use one of my favorite stamps. I used the Your Next Stamp ‘Magical Unicorn’ stamp set which you can find here. You can also get the dies for the stamp set here. Unfortunately right now they are both sold out on the Simon Says Stamp website but they will have more coming in. Let’s get to creating!
I stamped the image using VersaFine Onyx Black ink because it gives a crisp image and I can use my Arteza brush pens without the worry of ink bleeding. Instead of coloring the body with the Arteza pens I completely covered the unicorn’s body with Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen in Crystal Clear. This definitely saved me some time in the coloring department.
Next, I applied Scor Tape (1/4″) to the back of the image. I did this because next I took my Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard and applied it to the horn of the unicorn. Since the application was thin it dried enough, fast enough, that I could move it and flip it and not worry about ruining the Nuvo Drops. I used a total of three watercolors to color my unicorn- a lavender purple and a light purple (cool toned) for the mane and tail and then a light grey for the hooves.
I then applied more Scor Tape to the back of my green MFT paper and then I attached the white card to the green, closer to the bottom of the cardstock. Next I took some ribbon I had left over from Christmas and I applied a strip to the top of the green cardstock and attached it to the back of the card using normal one sided tape.
Next I stamped both sentiments onto my card. On the front I used a sentiment that came with the stamp set and I heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder. The inside sentiment comes from Simple Sentiments 02 stamp set by CZ Designs and Simon Says Stamp. I stamped the sentiment using my VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Then on the inside I stamped part of the unicorn using Lawn Fawn Lawn Fawndamentals Manatee ink. I really like to decorate the inside of my cards since they are separate from the envelopes which is what I used to do.
Here are the finished products! The sentiment on the front of the card says, “Never stop believing you are AWESOME!”. I did want to add a bow to the top but I decided that would be overkill and I’m not too good at making bows yet. Do you love unicorn stamp sets as much as I do? What are your favorites? As usual, I have my social media linked down below if you would like to check it out! XO ❤
