Just Us Girls Challenge #496: Trend Week

Hello my crafty friends! I hope everyone has had a great week. It’s that time again, another Just Us Girls Challenge from their challenge blog. This week’s Trend Challenge is to make your sentiment the focal point of the card. I was lucky enough to be asked to be the guest designer for the month of July and I’m loving every minute of it!

I created three different cards to go with this challenge because making one was so much fun, I had to make more! These challenges really stretch my creative muscles and I love that! Let me show you what I created.

To make the backgrounds, I used plain black cardstock and Delicata Ink. I used the Simon Says Stamp Abstract Triangles and Center Cut Heart background stamps. For two of the papers I used the Delicata Golden Glitz ink and I used the Delicata Rose Gold ink on one of the papers. I am pleased with how the gold turned out and I like the look of the rose gold but I think next time I may stamp it more than once to get a really good image. For the words I used Tonic Pearl White Pearlescent Cardstock as the top layer and I used 110# Neenah Solar White cardstock underneath for the bottom two layers to give the sentiments some dimension. For all of them I used my Ken Oliver Stick It adhesive to make adhering them together much easier than using liquid glue. They are blank on the inside so the giver can add their own personalized message. Out of all of them, I think the Center Cut Heart ‘Thinking of you’ background is my favorite. What do you think?

I would love for you to play along, so be sure to check out the Just Us Girls Challenge blog linked here. I would love to see what you’ve created! Be sure to check out my social media linked down below to stay up to date. XO❤

  1. Those backgrounds are so fabulous! They don’t take away from the focal sentiment but sure add a POP to the cards.

  2. These are gorgeous! I thought you heat embossed those backgrounds until I read your post, beautiful results with those inks, now I want to pull mine out and play with them! Love your big, bold sentiments and how they just pop.

    1. Thank you! I just got those inks and I had heard they were good on black so I decided to give it a go and I am beyond thrilled with the results. This is going to become a go to ink to stamp with.

  3. I too would have thought these were heat embossed! They are all wonderful however, the gold one is so striking! Can’t wait to see what you do next Emma!

  4. I’ve been away so I’m late commenting. Your cards are all so lovely, Emma. I never thought I liked my Delicata ink but what you’ve done has changed my opinion. It looks terrific on black cs and your background stamps worked perfectly with it.
