Graduation Card Step by Step

Hi there my crafty friends! I’m sorry for no Card Spotlight this past Sunday, I was in Arizona for my big brother’s wedding. He’s not actually my brother but we grew up together, we treated each other like brother and sister, and (when my hair was it’s natural color) we looked like siblings. It was a beautifully small intimate ceremony and reception, and it was very ‘them’ making it more special. I’m back with you, though so let’s get into this week’s step by step!

These are all of the stamps I used/ thought I would use for this card. I got the outside sentiment from the ‘You Did Good’ set from Unity Stamp Co., the main image and inside sentiment from ‘Graduation Wishes’ set from Unity Stamp Co. I didn’t use the ‘I Am So Proud of You’ sentiment and I’m using the My Besties sentiment on the envelope.

I cut a piece of Bristol to an A2 size piece and the I stamped my image with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I used Winsor and Newton Colorless Art Masking Fluid to block off my image. It took me a few minutes to apply but I’m sure I’ll get faster as I get used to it.

I used the Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord Distress Oxide Inks to make a nice blended background. I had it lighter on the inside and darker on the out. I loved having the masking fluid because I could really start from the center without worrying about getting ink all over and area where I didn’t want it. I find that my Distress Oxides blend best on Bristol smooth paper, so that’s exactly what I used.

I colored my image using my Arteza Real Brush Pens, again, another product that works great on Bristol. I tried my best to make it look like my friend, including the bits of purple/red that she had in her dark hair for awhile. I then used my Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard and Purple Rain for some accents around the purple card. I then embossed the sentiment with the Wow! Embossing Powder in Turkish Nights. It is probably my favorite glitter embossing powder. I had cut my panel down because it just didn’t look quite right with the whole front being purple, especially when I decided to use a Kraft Card base. I think it gives a bit more dimension to the card without any foam tape.

The graduation cap is from a Newton’s Nook graduation stamp set. The sentiment on the inside was stamped using Versa Fine Onyx Black ink. And that’s it! I hope you really liked this card, it was very special to me. Now, for a little peek at the wedding:

What have you created recently? I would love to know so be sure to leave it down in the comments below. I’ll see you on Thursday! XO ❤
