Card Spotlight Sunday: Baby Card(s)

Hello my crafty friends! For today’s card spotlight, I’m actually spotlighting three cards that I did all together and since they all sort of go together, I figured I would group them all together here. Tonights cards focussed on ink blending which I talked about in an earlier post from this week (to read it, click here) I decided to make baby cards because I just received a baby themed stamp set from Altenew called ‘Gift from Heaven’. Enough already, I’m so excited to show you these so let’s go!

This card was actually the last one I made. I figured out that the colors would be nice for a gender neutral baby card. I always think of yellow and green as gender neutral when it comes to babies. For the background I used the Distress Oxide colors Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, and Cracked Pistachio. For the image itself I used Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and the sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then heat embossed with WOW! Clear Embossing powder. The gems and pearls are one’s I’ve picked up from Hobby Lobby and Michaels. I really didn’t feel like glueing each individual gem down. On the inside I just have a general ‘Congratulations’ and then a little baby rattle from the Lawn Fawn ‘Hello Baby’ stamp set with Distress Oxide ‘Peeled Paint’ ink.

For this second card, all of the stamps are from the same Altenew and Lawn Fawn set. The inks I used on the background of this card are Salty Ocean, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire. I rarely use the two darker ones so it was nice to be able to break them out and, for the Chipped Sapphire, give it a spin since I hadn’t tried it with stamps or blending yet. The silver embossing powder I used was from the Recollections brand (the Michaels brand) and even though it was not a super fine detail powder, it still did a great job with all of the little details of the front stamp. The sentiment for this card was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Ranger Super Fine Detail White embossing powder. The gems I used for this card came from a local shop called Hearts n’ Crafts in Covina. The baby rattle inside the card was stamped using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

Once again, the stamps used on this card are from the same Altenew and Lawn Fawn stamps that I used on the other two. For the pink blended background I used, again, Distress Oxide stamps in the colors Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry. Personally, I feel that this was the smoothest blend of the three. The gems and pearls were ones that I picked up at Hobby Lobby and Michaels. The rattle in the corner on the inside was stamped with the Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink. For the embossing on the front I used the Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder. For the front sentiment I did the same as I did with the gender neutral card, Versafine and clear embossing powder.

There you have it! This week’s cards were a lot of fun to make. When I was making those blended backgrounds I didn’t have any clue what I was going to do with them. That being said, I’m glad they turned out so well. What did you create this week?

My Etsy shop has reopened including these cards! Be sure to check it out by clicking here!
