Card Spotlight Sunday: Tea Pot Get Well Card

Hello my crafty friends! I wanted to share with you today’s Spotlight Card, something I made for my aunt for part of her Christmas gift. I was inspired by one of the UK Crafting mags that I receive, Cardmaking and Papercraft and I used the stamp and embossing folder free gift from their January release, Issue 191. If you ever want to get cardmaking magazines, Jo Ann Fabrics and Barnes and Noble are going to be your guy. I saw this teapot and just thought “Get Well Card!” and that was what I made the first time I used the gifts from that issue. I stamped the teapot onto a circle, around the edge of the circle I very gently scraped the Tea Dye Distress Ink with a blending sponge around the edge to give a bit of interest, and on the card itself I used Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and covered the whole card front. I then sandwiched the middle in between the two sides of the embossing folder and I ran it through my Big Kick die cutting machine. I really liked the tone on tone with some dimension. I was the able to get the circle to nestle nicely into the center of the embossed area. I colored the tea pot with my Prismacolor Premier pencils with a bit of Gamsol blending. I used my White Signo gel pen to cover the dots on the pot and then I tried my hand at doing the highlighting by drawing lines and dots, and I was pretty proud that it didn’t ruin the image! I also put the tiniest amount of Glossy Accents on the top ball grip of the lid ti give it some dimension. The ‘Get Well Soon’ sentiment from a Lawn Fawn set and I just stamped it with VersaFine Onyx Black onto a piece of tan paper that had texture. To add some bling I took some of those strips of jewels and gems that you can get at the big box craft stores as well as mom and pop. I really love going to Hearts -n- Crafts in Covina, CA. They’re absolutely amazing, if you’re in the area- check them out! They have classes and demos and groups, it’s wonderful! As I was saying, I used those pearls on the top and bottom of the sentiment strip and then I snipped individual ones from the strip and scattered them about the card. I don’t always use these because I have loose gems and pearls that I love but when I do, I’m so glad that I have them.😊 Here is what the card looks like, I’d love to know what you think!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog and the posts, it truly means the world to me! If you get or read these magazines, how have you used some of the free gifts? I’d really love to know. Have a good Sunday and I’ll be seeing you on Tuesday 💕XO
