For this Sunday’s Card Spotlight I’ve decided to pull out a card I actually made quite a while ago. The stamp set I used was a Monthly Hero kit from April 2017. That month’s kit has probably been my favorite one out of all the one’s I’ve bought. The whole kit was fashion based and you could build the women because all of the areas were separate, if you follow me. I wanted this card to use the ‘You are one of a kind’ buildable sentiment. I stamped three dresses, as I am sure you guessed, with one of the dresses being more special than the others.
It’s hard to see, but the pink dress was stamped with VersaMark instead of VersaFine Black Onyx. I then used the Gold embossing powder from Ranger. I used colored pencils to color all of the dresses, using Gamsol to blend it out and give a very slight gradient to the color. The second picture is of the sentiment I was talking about. I put this on the inside of the card. There is no sentiment on the outside because I didn’t want to detract from the dresses and the embossing.
I’ve had this embossing folder for a few years, and I believe I got it from the free gift in Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. It was one of the easier cards to put together. Something fast you can whip up, great for birthday’s or a thinking of you card. I like the embossing folder I used because I feel that the pattern just had the look of elegance. I attached all three of the dresses using 3M foam tape that I bought on Amazon on the big roll. I buy the 2″, 36 yard double sided foam tape. It costs $34.10 at the moment. This tape lasts me a good while, so I feel justified in the cost. If I had wanted the whole image to be supported, I could have cut the shapes out with the dies and used Fun Foam.
So what do you think of this card? Do you have any designs that you really enjoy doing that are also really simple? I’m always looking for new ideas so, please, feel free to share them below! Be creative, always. Creativity itself will set you free and give you something to help you celebrate, be sad, anything. It will give you an outlet.
