Hello there, fellow crafters and non-crafters alike! Today I bring you a ‘Welcome Baby’ card that is gender neutral, using bunny rabbits. I made this card in a set that included 5 other baby cards, 6 wedding/anniversary, 6 sympathy, and 6 get well cards. Honestly, I found the baby cards the most difficult to do because I really haven’t made all that many and the set I used is really the only one that is solely ‘Baby’ related.
The stamp set I used is the ‘Hello Baby’ set made by Lawn Fawn. It is $14.99 on Simon Says Stamp. This was the first baby stamp set I owned and I still use it because I still don’t own very many baby sets. The green glitter paper is from the brand DCVW that I purchased from Hobby Lobby. The clouds are cut from 100# White Neenah paper with the Hero Arts cloud nesting dies. To get the clouds to sparkle, I opened up my VersaMark and smooshed each cloud into the ink. Not the best way but it worked for me. i then took my favorite Ranger Holographic clear embossing powder and sprinkled a generous amount over both of them and then I heat set them. The ‘Congrats’ is a dies from a Tim Hotlz set of celebration words. I cut one from silver glitter cardstock I purchased from Hearts n’ Crafts in Covina, CA and the shadow layer was just your typical plain black cardstock. I didn’t have to use a shim to cut through the glitter cardstock nicely which I was really impressed with.
Now to the bunnies. I love making cards with these bunnies but these three are my absolute favorite. Do you want to know why? Look at their little bunny tails! I wanted to make this card really special for whoever would be receiving this. Granted I do that with all of my cards, but I digress. I tore apart cotton balls and rolled them into little balls and dipped part of them into the Tonic glue and stuck them onto the card. I really think it looks cute, if I do say so myself.
I always find, that when I have to make a baby card I automatically lean toward this stamp set. Maybe because it was my first ‘Welcome Baby’ stamp set or maybe it’s because I’ve grown accustomed to how they work and that I know how I like the images to look when I put them down.
And that’s all folks, for my first Card Spotlight Sunday! What did you think? Is there anything you would like to see? I’d love to know, so pop it down in the comments below. Never forget, creativity will set the mind free.
